Edward spent all his working life – other than during World War II when he had a distinguished record in the artillery – as a teacher. For many years, he was a headmaster. Edward combined many years in the teaching profession with political activism, especially on issues concerning the Common Market as it morphed into the European Union.
Dr Brian Burkitt
Brian was a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Bradford and Director of the EERU. He wrote two highly quoted reports at the time of the 1975 referendum on EEC membership, appraising Britain's economic and political relationship with Europe. He has published more than 150 academic articles on Europe, inflation, unemployment and trade unions, and he is a frequent commentator on TV and radio.
John Cryer MP
John has been Member of Parliament for Leyton and Wansted since 2010. He was previously MP for Hornchurch between 1997 and 2005. He is a member of the Socialist Campaign Group in Parliament, and previously worked for The Tribune, The Morning Star, and ASLEF and Unite.
Eric was Member of Parliament for Walthamstow between 1970 and 1987. As a Labour MP he served as a junior Minister for both Trade and Health. He previously served as a Councillor in Tottenham. He has written a number of books, including 'What Future For Labour?'
Kelvin Hopkins MP
Kelvin has been Member of Parliament for Luton North since 1997. He is a member of the Social Campaign Group in Parliament, and previously worked as an economist for the TUC and UNISON. He has been a member of the Public Administration Committee since 2011, and a member of the European Scrutiny Committee since 2007.
